Slideshow Feature

This feature selects a number of images and displays them as slideshow with a transition effect.

Using Default Images only as “Linked to” setting in combination with the slideshow settings enables building a slideshow of a range of default images.

The module starts the slideshow list of images with the default image:

  • “Linked To” → “Default Image only”
  • “Default Image Filename” → header_default.png

So the module now builds a slideshow with header_default.png as the entry point to it.

Lets assume we have 2 more files named header_default_001.png, header_default_002.png in the same folder, this is the list of slideshow images the module now correctly builds:

  • header_default.png
  • header_default_001.png
  • header_default_002.png

With this setting the default image is used always, regardless of relation to any current context. To differentiate between site areas duplicate the module to another instance and assign it to Pages/Items with the modules settings in the backend.

Enables or disables the slideshow feature. 'Smart?' must be selected in the setting “Linked to” above for the slideshow to work. Also see the Smart? mode description how to name the files for the module to be able to select amongst them.

The slideshow behaviour is defined through these module settings:

Seconds to show images

Enter the seconds that each image shall be shown between transitions.

Pause on Mouse over Images

Select if the slideshow shall pause once the mouse pointer is hovering above the images.

Show images in random order

Sets if the images shall be shown in random order or in file order. See below for filenaming conventions.

Image transition type

Currently the following image transitions between individual images are available:

  • Fading between images
  • Sliding the images from horizontal or vertical in various ways

Test and see for yourself.

Image Transition Step Size & Image Transition Interval

These allow control of the transition speed from one image to another. The 'Step Size' is the size of teps that constitute a complete transition, for a fade effect this is between 1-100% and for other effects it is between 1 and image width or height. Each interval between single steps can be defined in milliseconds. The default values are steps with '10' and interval with '50'.

Slideshow Background Color

This is the color of the slideshow area background. The module accepts colors by name (e.g. 'white') or by its hex-value (e.g. '#FFFFFF').

There is another setting below for the selection of random images, that allow this slideshow feature to also generate a slideshow of random images. In case no content related image file was locateable:

Under 'Random default image' look for 'Nr. of images for a slideshow' Enter the number of random images that shall constitute the slideshow with random default images. All other settings from above apply here as well.

Use the same naming convention as for the Smart mode. The module selects additional image files to the first content related file based on increment numbers following the file identification.

For example:

himg_s1c3i56.png ... is the image file for the current section 1, category 3 and content item 56. Also the first image of the slideshow.
himg_s1c3i56_001.png ... would be the next image to be added to the slideshow, the second now.
himg_s1c3i56_002.png ... would be the next image to be added to the slideshow, the third now.

…and so on…

This feature does only work with any type of browser supported image files. The setting 'Operation Mode' needs to be at 'Display Images or Files'.

The HTML Code invocation through 'Use HTML Code below' or the operation mode 'Use for table backgrounds' are not supported by the slideshow and normal operation will commence within the module if the slideshow feature is active together with those options.
